Challenge
The Royal FloraHolland flower auction is famous worldwide. It is the largest international floriculture marketplace of flowers and plants. Every day, through about 100,000 transactions, many millions of flowers and plants change hands on the auction platform. There is an impressive logistics operation around it, which has been organized down to the last detail thanks to the implementation of Lean and winning the Kaizen Award.
To further optimize this operation, the principle of continuous improvement is something they would like to sustain. And like many large logistics environments, they recognised the same challenge: even with strong processes, the quality of daily leadership conversations determined whether routines stayed stable or drifted. Behaviour varied between teams and shifts, and leaders wanted more clarity on what they were reinforcing well, and what they were missing.
Goal
The leadership of the logistics organization is therefore trained in the application of Reinforcement Leadership™. A new way of leadership that focuses on what is going well, in order to reinforce desired behavior through positive reinforcement.
